Ok, I know it’s a classic and everybody had already seen it, but I had not, so in a flash of nostalgia and boredness I hired Dune, the movie. As usual, we can say in short that; “the book was better”. Though the movie was even harder to follow to non-readers than was the case with LOTR. And there were of course the various side-tracks (like when only the Baron’s mentat was killed by duke Leto with the poison-gass-tooth instead of most of his bodyguards and officers).
But apart from that it was quite cool. One major dissappointment for me was the IMO absolute miscast of “Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek”(don’t know his real name) as a flamboyant and charming interstellar bard. He is way too much reserved for that, he has no flair whatsoever, he’d better have been a mentat I think, or, why not; the emperor?
Luckily I could still marvel at the soundtrack (and Sting being killed and split in two by a sound-weapon ;p ).
